DEMOCRATS ARE ENGAGED IN A NATIONWIDE EFFORT TO DELIGITIMIZE AMERICA’S ELECTIONS
- Democrats are increasingly stoking false outrage over Republican efforts to make state elections more secure.
- Their latest target is Texas, where Democrats are falsely branding the state’s election integrity legislation as “Jim Crow 2.0.”
- Today, Texas legislators will begin a new Special Session, and Governor Greg Abbott has announced that election integrity legislation is on the agenda.
- Democrats will run the same playbook they previously did with lies and theatrics about the bill.
- Democrat opposition to commonsense election integrity reforms is rooted in an agenda to enact a partisan power grab with a federal takeover of elections.
DEBUNKING DEMOCRATS’ LIES ABOUT THE LAST ELECTION INTEGRITY BILL IN TEXAS
- In June, while Republicans in Texas were working to make amendments to SB7, Democrats chose to put partisan theatrics over legislating by walking out of the process.
- Democrats are trying to intimidate businesses to “flex their considerable influence” in an attempt to boycott the state and any measures to promote election integrity.
- Democrats falsely claimed that SB7 would “overthrow the voice of the people,” but in reality the bill protected transparency and enhanced election security by providing common-sense fixes to the voting process.
- Some of these pro-transparency measures included:
- Ending 24-hour voting centers, which were difficult to staff full-time with poll workers and bipartisan ballot observers.
- Requiring a verifiable paper trail for each ballot.
- Providing better and more timely evidence in voter fraud investigations.
- Bringing about transparency by utilizing technology throughout the voting process.
- Requiring election officials to monitor ballot drop boxes.
- Democrats falsely claimed that SB7 would have hampered “souls to the polls” effort meant to turn out voters after church services.
- After walking out on their jobs, Texas Democrats were rewarded by the White House and Democrats in Washington, D.C. with photo ops.
DEMOCRATS RAN THE SAME PLAYBOOK IN GEORGIA, FLORIDA, AND ARIZONA
- In Georgia, Democrats lied about the effects of SB202, Georgia’s election integrity law, which led to boycotts meant to hurt small businesses.
- In March, The Washington Post gave Joe Biden four Pinocchios for his baseless claims that Georgia’s new election law “ends voting hours early.”
- Georgia will lose an estimated $100 million in revenue because of MLB’s decision to boycott the state, with nearly 30 percent of businesses in Atlanta being Black-owned.
- In Florida, Democrats attempted to smear SB90, Florida’s new election law, as Jim Crow 2.0 in attempt to generate outrage over the bill.
- Just as they did in Georgia, Democrats recycled their playbook in Florida by falsely claiming election integrity efforts would weaken the voting process.
- Florida Democrats claimed that SB90 would make it harder to vote by mail, but the truth is the bill allows for the continued use of drop boxes, and only limits who can drop off a voter’s ballot.
- In Arizona, Democrats falsely claimed that SB1485 would “purge” voters from the permanent early voter list.
- The truth is SB1485 simply keeps voter lists current, only removing mail voters from the state’s ballot list and notifying them after two straight election cycles (4 years) of not voting.
- The law does not remove any Arizonans from the actual voter rolls.
BY A WIDE MARGIN, THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS SUPPORT COMMON SENSE REFORMS TO SECURE ELECTIONS IN THEIR OWN STATES
- New polling shows that more than 80 percent of all voters say that verifying voter ID is an important security measure, 87 percent of voters are against ballot harvesting, and 77 percent of all voters reject Democrats’ claim that “racism” is behind voting integrity laws.
- American voters by a 33+ point margin believe that voting in their area is “easy” and want the main objective of any reforms to focus on making sure elections are “fair and free of voter fraud” over “making it easier for as many people as possible to vote.”
- 68 percent of voters believe that state legislatures should decide the voting rules and regulations for their state, not the federal government.
- 61 percent of voters say that it is “inappropriate for corporations to engage in political speech.”
