Biden Needs To Visit The Southern Border To See Firsthand The Crisis He Created

BIDEN ABANDONS THE BORDER

• Joe Biden and his “border czar” Kamala Harris continue to brush aside the growing border crisis, instead vacationing and attending football games.  
• Biden has been president for almost 250 days, yet has still not visited the southern border despite promising in March to go “at some point.” 
  • Biden’s Press Secretary Jen Psaki dodged answering when the last time Biden visited the border was.
• This week marks 6 months since Harris was named border czar, yet she has only been to the border one time – about 90 days ago. 
  • When Harris went to the border she did not go to the epicenter of the crisis, the Rio Grande Valley, or Del Rio, Texas, where thousands are currently camped below the International Bridge.

BIDEN’S CRISIS AT THE BORDER IS GETTING WORSE 

• Since Biden took office, illegal immigrants have been caught over 1.2 million times attempting to cross the border, with August being the second month in a row with more than 200,000 apprehensions. 
• The crisis at the southern border is continuing to escalate – the latest crisis being the thousands of Haitian immigrants camping out in Del Rio.
  • A “third world refugee camp” has formed under the International Bridge in Del Rio where conditions are “absolutely horrible.” 
  • Biden’s reckless open borders agenda has led to COVID-positive illegal immigrants coming into American communities, with no COVID testing or vaccine mandates happening in Del Rio.
• Border Patrol agents have never seen anything like this before.
  • Jon Anfinsen, National Border Patrol Council President of the Del Rio region: “It’s not a place for anyone. This is just — it's a terrible situation.”
  • Brandon Judd, National Border Patrol Council President: “It looks like a warzone but in the United States. I'm completely, totally floored.”
• This surge of illegal immigrants has emptied grocery store shelves while local residents have been struggling with the effects of Biden’s open borders policies for months. 
• The FAA temporarily issued flight restrictions over the International Bridge in an attempt to restrict press access over the area. 
• Roughly an hour away from Del Rio, Border Patrol agents found toddlers abandoned on the banks of the Rio Grande.

BIDEN AND HARRIS ARE DOING NOTHING TO ADDRESS THE CRISIS THEY CREATED

• Biden’s border crisis has gotten so bad that even CNN has questioned the Biden administration’s reluctance to “call something that is so clearly a crisis, a crisis.”
  • Privately, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas called the border crisis “unsustainable,” saying “we’re going to lose.”
  • Yesterday, Biden finally admitted that the border is not “under control” despite claiming it was in April. 
• The Biden administration has refused to take strong action to address the border crisis, leaving Border Patrol agents feeling abandoned. 
  • 224 miles of the Rio Grande River border are now unpatrolled as agents grapple with the historic number of illegal crossings.
• The Biden administration is using the Northern Triangle as an excuse to ignore addressing the border crisis, claiming they are focusing on addressing “root causes.”
  • However, illegal immigrants are coming from all over the world, with 61,484 illegal immigrants apprehended at the border in August arriving from countries other than the Northern Triangle or Mexico.
• The border crisis and its devastation are a direct result of Biden’s reckless open border policies.
