BIDEN’S AFGHANISTAN FAILURE HAS DRAWN CRITICISM ACROSS THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM

Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan has brought widespread criticism from both sides of the aisle.
Despite causing the biggest foreign policy disaster in decades, Biden has gone back to his vacation, hiding from the very issues he caused.

ALL THREE OF OBAMA’S CIA DIRECTORS HAVE CRITICIZED BIDEN’S HANDLING OF AFGHANISTAN

Obama CIA Director and Defense Secretary Leon Panetta compared Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal to the Bay of Pigs, saying that “mistakes” were made.
- Panetta: “Our national security is threatened . . . With the Taliban now controlling Afghanistan, there is no question that they will provide a safe haven for Al Qaeda and for ISIS.”
Obama CIA Director David Petraeus: “The situation is absolutely heartbreaking. It is tragic . . . This is a Dunkirk moment or, perhaps, a Saigon moment.”
Obama CIA Director John Brennan said that the Biden administration was “caught off guard” in Afghanistan and that things have clearly unraveled.
Obama Acting CIA Director Michael Morell said the Taliban “knew it was going to win” when “the clock started in April when the president made the decision,” and “to blame intelligence now infuriates me, absolutely infuriates me.”

Obama U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Karl Eikenberry: “Evacuation of an embassy can be interpreted locally and internationally as abandonment, akin to a military unit fleeing from its position under enemy pressure.”
Obama U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Ryan Crocker called Biden’s handling of Afghanistan “an indelible stain on his presidency.”
- Crocker: “I’m left with some grave questions in my mind about his ability to lead our nation as commander-in-chief . . . To have read this so wrong – or, even worse, to have understood what was likely to happen and not care.”
- Crocker: “For the administration to say this isn't going to be Saigon as we look at those sorts of images – well maybe they're right. Because they're way worse than Saigon.”
- Crocker: “I think it is damning for him to have created this situation in his first significant action as commander in chief . . . It’s an unforced error, and as an American I am deeply concerned.”
Obama U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan James Cunningham: “There was little to no real planning done about how to compensate for the withdrawal of their forces made it almost impossible to carry that out effectively and safely . . . They were behind the curve from the beginning of the announcement and that became rapidly apparent to the Afghans and to the Taliban as well.”
Obama U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan P. Michael McKinley: Biden’s withdrawal plan “tied to the 20th anniversary of 9/11, and in the middle of the fighting season, was a mistake.”

OBAMA WHITE HOUSE AND NATIONAL SECURITY OFFICIALS HAVE CRITICIZED BIDEN’S BOTCHED WITHDRAWAL

Obama Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson said the Afghan government collapsed “rapidly because of the way in which we got out.”
Obama Senior Advisor David Axelrod: “You cannot defend the execution here. This has been a disaster . . . It’s a failure, and [Biden] needs to own that failure.”
Obama White House Director of Global Engagement Brett Bruen said Biden should fire his National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan for the “disaster that unfolded in Afghanistan.”
Obama White House official Alison Jaslow, a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, called it “mind-boggling” that ground level troops predicted this outcome better than Biden’s defense officials.
Obama Special Assistant Dennis Ross said “it’s pretty hard to make a compelling case for why the nature of the withdrawal has gone as badly as it has.”
Obama Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for Border, Immigration and Trade Policy Seth Stodder: “Catastrophic. Definitely has a ‘Saigon 1975’ feel about it.”

EVEN DEMOCRATS HAVE SLAMMED BIDEN’S HANDLING OF AFGHANISTAN

Sen. Tom Carper (D-DE) said that the withdrawal of U.S. troops "should have been carefully planned to prevent violence and instability."
Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI): “This is a chaotic situation . . . I don’t think it needed to be this way.”
Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ): “I am disappointed that the Biden administration clearly did not accurately assess the implications of a rapid U.S. withdrawal.”
Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) blamed the Biden administration’s “failures of intelligence, diplomacy and a lack of imagination as we transitioned military forces from the country.”
Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) questioned “why we weren’t better prepared for a worst-case scenario involving such a swift and total collapse of the Afghan government and security forces.”
Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA): "This is a crisis of untold proportions . . . This is an intelligence failure."
Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA): “To say that today is anything short of a disaster would be dishonest. Worse, it was avoidable . . . That has been my distinct clear call to the administration for several months now: You need to evacuate our allies. Sort out the paperwork once you get these heroes to safety . . . And they have not headed that call.”
- Moulton: “This is a commitment I've been asking [the Biden Administration] to make for months now when I told them to start the evacuation before we get to a point like this.”
- Moulton: “All the scenes of total chaos that we saw play out on the TV yesterday could have been avoided if the [Biden] administration had planned for this in advance.”
Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI): "I suppose we are now experiencing the consequences of not getting 'into a hypothetical.' Public executions and forced marriages are reportedly back. People are fleeing. The Taliban are in Kabul, and the government has fallen. This is a catastrophe."
- Langevin: Biden “owed a better plan to our men and women in uniform.”
