Biden Continues To Ignore A Historic Border Crisis, Leading To Spiking Crime And Drugs As Hundreds Of Thousands Of Illegal Immigrants Cross The Border Into The U.S.

BIDEN HAS CAUSED THE WORST FEBRUARY AT THE BORDER IN 22 YEARS

• In February, 164,973 illegal immigrants were apprehended attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, making this the highest total for February in 22 years.
  • It’s a 63 percent increase over last February, and a 280 percent increase from the average number of February apprehensions during the Trump administration.
  • With 12,011 unaccompanied children apprehended in February, more unaccompanied children have been encountered just five months into this fiscal year than in the entirety of FY2020.
  • 54,585 illegal immigrants were apprehended from countries outside the Northern Triangle, showing that Biden’s crisis has gone global.
• More than two million illegal immigrants have been caught attempting to cross the border since Biden took office.
  • Additionally, more than 500,000 illegal immigrants have disappeared into the U.S. during Biden’s border crisis.
  • 27,273 illegal immigrants were released into the U.S. in February alone.
• Even Biden’s DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently admitted the situation at the border is, “worse now than it, frankly, has been in at least 20 years, if not ever.”
  • Border officials are expecting as many as 9,000 arrests per day at the border this spring which would eclipse even the worst numbers seen in 2021.

CRIME AND DRUG SMUGGLING ARE ON THE RISE

• Illicit drugs are flowing into the country at an alarming rate, with 634 pounds of deadly fentanyl and 12,500 pounds of methamphetamine seized at the southern border in February alone.
  • Joshua Sharfstein of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health: “If they're seizing a lot, it's because a lot is coming in.”
• As the number of illegal immigrants apprehended continues to reach new historic levels, crime is surging thanks to Biden’s open border policies.
  • In Texas, three sex offenders and three gang members were recently arrested after entering the U.S. illegally.
  • An illegal immigrant in California killed his three daughters and their chaperone in a church just five days after being released from jail, a completely avoidable tragedy due to California’s “sanctuary” state laws which did not allow ICE to deport the man after his arrest.
  • A known human smuggler, who was arrested and released by Border Patrol due to an inability to house female smugglers, was arrested for human smuggling again less than a week later.

BIDEN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS AT THE BORDER

• Despite Biden’s promise of a “fair and humane immigration system,” his open border policies aren’t compassionate, they are deadly.
  • In Texas, 40 illegal immigrants were found locked inside of train cars in freezing conditions by human smugglers attempting to sneak migrants into the U.S.
  • In Northern California, American citizens are being shot at and threatened by cartels that have expanded their operations beyond Mexico since Biden took office.
  • In Texas, a human smuggler with 62 illegal immigrants in a tanker attempting to evade arrest rammed multiple law enforcement vehicles, ending in troopers opening fire.
• Many of the victims of Biden’s open borders agenda are young children.
  • In Arizona, Border Patrol reported a spike in unaccompanied children crossing the border, with more than 100 children being found alone in recent days.
  • Last week, a four-year-old child drowned in the Rio Grande river as he and his mother attempted to cross into the U.S.
  • Border agents in Arizona recently found a five-week-old baby abandoned by its mother.
• The Biden administration recently reopened the McAllen, Texas facility – this is the facility that Biden openly criticized as “kids in cages” when President Trump was in office.
  • Minimal renovations were made, with Rio Grande Valley National Border Patrol Council spokesman Chris Cabrera saying the facility now “looks more jail-like.”

BIDEN HAS ABANDONED BORDER PATROL AGENTS

• The Biden administration has abandoned Border Patrol, with agents left feeling “demonize[d].”
• Border agents see through Biden’s lies, with one agent calling his pledge to secure the border during the State of the Union “pandering 101.”
  • Another border agent said, “Very few people within CBP believe this administration will actually secure the border, they just do not believe in it.”
  • A different border agent added “We all know he doesn't care about secure borders.”
• Border agents are left under-resourced by Biden, with Del Rio Border Patrol union spokesman Jon Anfinsen saying “on a good day, we’re 50 percent effective” at catching border crossers.

BIDEN’S OPEN BORDERS POLICIES HAVE MADE THIS CRISIS WORSE

• Biden’s failed policies created the crisis at the southern border.
  • In Biden’s first 100 days in office he took more than 94 executive actions on immigration, including halting construction of the border wall and ending the Trump administration’s successful “Remain in Mexico” policy.
  • Illegal immigrants are thanking Biden for his weak immigration policies, saying that they “didn’t even want to try” crossing the border when Trump was president.
• Biden has not been to the border as president to see the crisis for himself, and other than a brief drive-by, there is still no record that Biden has ever visited the border.
• The Biden administration is doing too little too late for Americans affected by the border crisis, with ranchers in Texas forced to spend tens of thousands of dollars to repair property broken by illegal immigrants.
• While illegal immigration is surging, ICE detentions have dropped to under 18,000 for the first time since mid-May 2021.
• Americans are fed up with this immigration crisis, giving him only a 32 percent approval rating for his handling of immigration.
