Worst January At The Border In DHS History

BIDEN HAS OVERSEEN THE WORST YEAR AT THE BORDER IN DHS HISTORY

In January, 153,941 illegal immigrants were apprehended attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, making this the highest total for January in DHS history.
- It’s a 96 percent increase over last January, and a 194 percent increase from the average number of January apprehensions during the Trump administration.
- 8,777 unaccompanied children were apprehended.
- 62,681 illegal immigrants were apprehended from countries outside the Northern Triangle – 40 percent of total apprehensions – showing that Biden’s crisis has gone global.
More than two million illegal immigrants have been caught attempting to cross the border since Biden took office.
- Additionally, more than 500,000 illegal immigrants have disappeared into the U.S. during Biden’s border crisis.
In January alone, 62,573 illegal immigrants were released into the United States according to recent federal court filings.
Even Biden’s DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently admitted the situation at the border is, “worse now than it, frankly, has been in at least 20 years, if not ever.”
- Border officials are expecting as many as 9,000 arrests per day at the border this spring which would eclipse even the worst numbers seen in 2021.

CRIME AND DRUG SMUGGLING ARE ON THE RISE

Illicit drugs are flowing into the country at an alarming rate, with 839 pounds of deadly fentanyl seized at the southern border in January alone.
- This is just what federal border officials were able to seize, and a rising level of seizures likely indicates even more drugs are successfully being smuggled into the U.S.
- Joshua Sharfstein of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health: “If they're seizing a lot, it's because a lot is coming in.”
- The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) found a “direct link” between Mexican cartels and fentanyl-related overdose deaths.
As the number of illegal immigrants apprehended continues to reach new historic levels, crime is surging thanks to Biden’s open border policies.
When an illegal immigrant who has previously been deported four times was arrested for drawing swastikas and vandalizing Washington, D.C.’s Union Station, the Biden administration refused to deport him.
Last week, three members of the MS-13 gang were arrested crossing the border in Texas.
Additionally, a convicted child rapist was arrested in Arizona after crossing the border illegally – this comes after two other child sex predators were arrested crossing the border in recent days.

BIDEN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS AT THE BORDER

Despite Biden’s promise of a “fair and humane immigration system,” his open border policies aren’t compassionate, they are deadly.
In Tucson, Arizona, Border Patrol was forced to pull two illegal immigrants out of a burning car after a human smuggler drove off the road attempting to evade arrest and the car caught fire.
- Another attempt to evade arrest in Texas led to a car crash with multiple fatalities.
In Texas, Border Patrol agents were forced to save a Haitian family that was drowning while attempting to cross the Rio Grande river.
In Texas, Border Patrol agents arrested human smugglers with 132 illegal immigrants crammed in the back of a tracker trailer.
Multiple young children have been found alone and abandoned, with one five-year-old telling agents she crossed the Rio Grande by herself.

BIDEN HAS ABANDONED BORDER PATROL AGENTS

The Biden administration has abandoned Border Patrol, with agents left feeling “demonize[d].”
- A Border Patrol agent physically “turned his back” on Mayorkas to show his frustration with Biden’s open borders policies.
- A senior CBP official in Texas said, “The U.S. Border Patrol has become part of the alien smuggling organizations by aiding, abetting, and facilitating the illegal aliens' movements throughout the U.S. The very same thing we swore to protect against is what we’ve now become.”
- A second CBP agent said, “Our job’s a joke … We’re not doing our jobs. We’re releasing people all day. We go from arresting people in the woods, pulling over fully loaded vehicles, to releasing people onto the streets of America. The smugglers look at us and laugh at us.”
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas even acknowledged that “the policies of this administration are not particularly popular with U.S. Customs and Border Protection” and “morale is struggling” among Border Patrol.
Border Patrol agents are so frustrated they have said to CBP Chief Raul Ortiz, “Good men are doing nothing. You’re allowing illegal aliens to be dropped off in communities.”

BIDEN’S OPEN BORDERS POLICIES HAVE MADE THIS CRISIS WORSE

Biden’s failed policies created the crisis at the southern border.
- In Biden’s first 100 days in office he took more than 94 executive actions on immigration, including halting construction of the border wall and ending the Trump administration’s successful “Remain in Mexico” policy.
- Illegal immigrants are thanking Biden for his weak immigration policies, saying that they “didn’t even want to try” crossing the border when Trump was president.
Biden has not been to the border as president to see the crisis for himself, and other than a brief drive-by, there is still no record that Biden has ever visited the border.
Under the Biden administration, TSA recently announced it is now accepting warrants for arrest or warrants for deportation from illegal immigrants as identification to board a flight at a U.S. airport.
- According to TSA more than 44,000 illegal aliens were allowed to fly using arrest warrants between January and October 2021.
A senior White House official called the Biden administration’s clandestine effort to bus and fly 13,000 illegal immigrants across the country “beautiful to watch.”
