DEFENDING STATE ELECTION LAWS
- As Democrats attempted to undermine commonsense election integrity laws and weaponize the Department of Justice – attempting to allow non-citizens to vote and weaken election safeguards – the RNC’s legal team fought back in courtrooms across the country.
- Since 2020, the RNC has intervened to defend election integrity laws in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, and Texas, including DOJ lawsuits in Arizona, Georgia, and Texas.
- Our efforts have defended commonsense laws that regulate drop boxes, require voter ID, restrict ballot harvesting, and ensure that only U.S. citizens can register to vote in our elections.
- In Georgia, the Department of Justice filed a “politicized and baseless lawsuit” in an attempt to overturn Georgia’s new election integrity law, SB202.
- The RNC and NRSC were granted intervention in Georgia against the Department of Justice’s “politically motivated lawsuit,” and the law will remain in effect for the midterms.
- In Arizona, the RNC and NRSC intervened in several lawsuits filed by Democrats, the DOJ, and left-wing dark money organizations challenging commonsense laws protecting the integrity of Arizona’s elections.
- One of the challenged Arizona laws helps close a legal loophole allowing the registration of voters whose citizenship has not been verified.
- In Florida, the RNC intervened in four separate lawsuits from far-left groups that threatened to slow down efforts to shore up the state’s election laws.
- This year, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the state’s new voting law – SB90 – should stay intact.
- The court reinstated the law’s limits on third party registration groups, safeguards for ballot drop boxes, and will allow the state itself to implement the law’s voting procedures.
- In Texas, a total of six lawsuits, including one brought by the DOJ, were brought challenging different provisions of SB1, the state’s recently enacted election integrity bill.
- The RNC has intervened to protect the state’s election laws, won a huge victory at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and released an ad last year defending election integrity laws in Texas.
- In Iowa, the RNC and NRSC intervened in a lawsuit to defend the state from a suit challenging the state’s election reform laws.
- Iowa’s law, SF413, established uniform election procedures across the state, restricted ballot harvesting, and will hold rogue county election officials accountable for flouting state election laws and directives.
- In Michigan, the RNC won a hard-fought victory against Democrat SuperPAC Priorities USA.
- The RNC’s intervention successfully defended the state’s law banning application harvesting for absentee ballots and paid “busing” to the polls.
- In Wisconsin, the RNC won key victories to defeat unlawful guidance from the state’s elections commission (WEC) that undermined the integrity of the state’s absentee voting process.
- The RNC successfully challenged guidance that allowed for local clerks to fill in missing information on a witness’s affidavit and guidance allowing voters to “re-vote” if they change their mind after voting and returning their ballot.
- The RNC, NRSC, and Wisconsin Republican Party submitted an amicus brief to the state’s Supreme Court in Teigen v. WEC, which was cited in the majority opinion that made drop boxes in the state illegal.
- In Pennsylvania, the RNC sued to hold Pennsylvania Democrats accountable for their brazen defiance of the U.S. Supreme Court and the laws set by the state’s legislature.
- This month, the RNC won the lawsuit and Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court upheld the state’s ban on counting undated or misdated absentee ballots.
- The RNC is also challenging unlawful ballots curing by some counties while most counties follow the law and do not permit curing.
- In New Jersey, the RNC sued Mercer County to force the release of ballot cure letters after the county refused to respond to public document requests for the 2021 general election.

- At the Supreme Court, the RNC led efforts in the monumental victory in Brnovich v. DNC and has filed amicus briefs in support of critical litigation impacting voting rights.

ELECTION INTEGRITY POLICIES WORK
- Regardless of Democrats’ attempts to delegitimize election integrity laws, voters are seeing the results of making it easier to vote and harder to cheat.
- In Georgia, Democrats lied about SB202, Georgia’s election integrity law, which led to a Democrat-backed boycott meant to hurt small businesses.
- On Election Day in 2021, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution wrote that voters saw “short lines,” “few problems,” and no “obstacles at the polls.”
- Turnout in Georgia has already reached a “record number of voters for a midterm,” with over 837,000 people voting early across the Peach State.
- In Florida, Democrats disgustingly attempted to smear SB90, Florida’s new election law, as “Jim Crow” in an attempt to generate outrage.
- On Election Day 2021, reports from Florida’s counties were that the elections went off “without a hitch, with no reports of malfunctions, long lines or other issues at polling places.”
- For the congressional special election in Broward and Palm Beach counties, election officials reported “smooth” voting and no issues related to the state’s new election law.
PROTECTING THE RIGHTS OF POLL WATCHERS AND FAIR ADMINISTRATION OF ELECTIONS
- This cycle, the GOP has done more to protect the rights of poll watchers to transparently observe our elections than ever before.
- In North Carolina, the RNC won a lawsuit against the state’s Board of Elections and their attempts to weaken the rights of poll watchers.
- The RNC sued the state Board of Elections for its unlawful regulation restricting poll watchers and extension of the ballot delivery deadline for the November election.
- In Nevada, the RNC sued Clark County to ensure that the county was hiring an equal number of Republican and Democrat poll workers.
- In Michigan, the RNC sued Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to stop unconstitutional poll watching guidance.
- The RNC has also sent letters to major cities in Michigan, including Flint and Kalamazoo, seeking to determine party affiliations of the poll workers for election day.
- In Arizona, the RNC sued Maricopa County to ensure that poll workers’ rights are protected.
- Despite a legal obligation to have an equal number of poll workers from both parties, the RNC has demanded answers from Maricopa County officials after they appointed fewer Republican poll workers than Democrats.
- In Wisconsin, the RNC sued Green Bay to ensure the city’s Democrat election officials follow the law on the books for bipartisan poll watching.
- In less than 24 hours, the RNC successfully sued and won.
RNC VOLUNTEERS HAVE ALREADY MADE A DIFFERENCE
- During the 2021 general election and 2022 primary elections, the RNC built fully functional legal command centers in 17 states for issue reporting and resolution.
- The RNC resolved 7,233 issues reported by the committee’s trained poll watchers, staff, and attorneys.
- Since 2020, the RNC’s election integrity operation has produced high-profile wins on the ground in the states.
- In Texas, the RNC successfully held a local election official accountable for failing to do her job.
- Harris County Election Administrator Isabel Longoria failed to run a competent and secure primary election.
- Longoria failed at the most basic tenets of election administration: she did not credential Republican poll workers, she did not train enough Republican poll workers, some polling places were not open until 9:30 a.m., and she did not provide adequate support for election officials on Election Day.
- The RNC, State, and County Parties called on Longoria to resign, and she resigned one week after Election Day.
- In Pinal County, Arizona, the RNC faced similar issues in the state’s 2022 Primary.
- Over 63,000 mail-in ballots were delivered to the wrong voters and there were ballot shortages throughout Pinal County on Election Day.
- The RNC and AZGOP issued a joint statement calling for the resignation of the Pinal County Elections Director, who following the pressure resigned the next day.
- In Virginia, during the 2021 general election, the RNC achieved 100 percent poll-watching coverage with thousands of poll-watchers spread across 37 key counties.
- Virginia’s Elections Commissioner described the election as running “as smoothly as we could ask for.”
PREVENTING DEMOCRATS FROM DILUTING YOUR VOTE
- Since 2020, Democrats have sought to eviscerate commonsense state voter ID laws, give felons the right to vote, and overrule the states’ ability to determine their own election laws.
- In Congress, Republicans have thwarted Democrat attempts to eliminate the Senate filibuster and pass their election takeover bills known as the “For The Politicians Act,” “Election Suppression Act,” and “Freedom to Cheat Act.”
- Democrats claimed that their bills were about safeguarding democracy, but they were radical power grabs over state-run elections.
- S.1 the “For The Politicians Act,” wasn’t about voting rights or election security, it was about a partisan power grab.
- H.R.4 the “Election Suppression Act,” sought to weaponize the Department of Justice to target and override state election integrity laws that Americans support.
- H.R. 4 would have given the Biden Justice Department the power to overturn state-level election integrity reforms that make it easier to vote and harder to cheat – like those seen in Georgia, Florida, and Iowa.
- The bill would force “every single political jurisdiction in the country” to pre-clear certain election changes even if there is no evidence of discrimination.
- S.2747 the “Freedom To Cheat Act,” was branded as a compromise, but it was just another far-left attempt to take over state elections.
LIBERALS RUSH TO LET NON-CITIZENS VOTE
- Democrats across America have pushed to give non-citizens the right to vote in municipal elections.
- In 2021, the RNC filed lawsuits against the cities of Montpelier and Winooski, Vermont over their new town charters letting non-citizens vote in their municipal elections.
- In New York, the RNC and the state’s GOP led the charge to derail Democrat attempts to allow non-citizens to vote in New York City’s municipal elections and won in state court.
- The Democrat effort could have allowed an estimated 800,000 to one million non-citizens vote.
- Federal law makes it illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections, and only the most far-left cities and local municipalities have previously let non-citizens vote.
- Americans reject letting non-citizens vote, with 71 percent of Americans opposing San Francisco’s decision to let non-citizens vote in school board elections.
- Voters in four states — Colorado, Florida, North Dakota, and Alabama — have overwhelmingly supported ballot measures in the last few years saying that only U.S. citizens can vote in their state’s elections.
- Even though voters overwhelmingly reject letting non-citizens vote, Democrats in Congress appear to have no problem with it.
COMMONSENSE ELECTION LAWS ARE POPULAR
- Americans see through Democrats’ lies, instead supporting Republicans’ commonsense election integrity initiatives by a wide margin.
- By a 33 point margin, Americans believe that voting in their area is “easy” and want the main objective of any reforms to focus on making sure elections are “fair and free of voter fraud.”
- A Gallup poll shows overwhelming support for voter ID laws with 79 percent of voters supporting voter ID, including 77 percent of minorities.
- 68 percent of voters believe that state legislatures should decide the voting rules and regulations for their state, not the federal government.
- A Republican National Committee poll found that:
- 80 percent of voters support voter ID.
- 87 percent of voters are against ballot trafficking.
- 78 percent of all voters endorse a proposed voting plan with five common sense measures: presenting voter ID, signature verification, chain of custody controls, bipartisan observers, and cleaning up voter rolls.
